Ébauche de code de déontologie du catalogage disponible pour l’ajout de commentaires / Code of Ethics for Catalogers draft document open for public comment

En 2019, le Comité sur les normes relatives au catalogage et aux métadonnées (CNCM) de la FCAB-CFLA a répondu à un appel afin de participer au développement d’un code de déontologie du catalogage. Le comité a proposé May Chan (University of Toronto Libraries) pour occuper le rôle de représentante au Cataloging Ethics Steering Committee. Au sein de ce comité sont également nommés des représentants de l’American Library Association et du Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). 

Le CMSC a lancé une invitation en avril 2019 pour que des Canadiens participent aux groupes de travail chargés de développer une ébauche de code de déontologie du catalogage. Des représentant(e)s canadien(ne)s ont répondu à l’appel et depuis, ont participé au développement du code. En mai 2020, le comité de pilotage a rendu publique l’ébauche en anglais pour consultation publique (vidéo (anglais) ; slides (anglais)). CFLA-FCAB a fait traduire l’ébauche en français et celle-ci est maintenant disponible en version anglaise et française pour l’ajout de commentaires.

La date limite pour commenter les deux documents est le 1re septembre 2020. 

Le CMSC, en association avec la Section Traitement documentaire et métadonnées de la Fédération des milieux documentaires, invite le milieu documentaire canadien à réviser et ajouter leurs commentaires à l’intérieur des documents en ligne. 

De plus, le CMSC et la Section Traitement documentaire et métadonnées vont réviser l’ébauche et émettre une réponse commune. Pour nous aider à formuler cette réponse, nous encourageons la communauté des bibliothèques canadiennes à envoyer également leurs commentaires directement au CMSC et à la Section Traitement documentaire et métadonnées. Veuillez envoyer vos commentaires à votre représentant(e) (provincial(e) ou régional(e)) CMSC ou à la coordinatrice pour la Section Traitement documentaire et métadonnées.

In 2019, the CFLA-FCAB Cataloguing and Metadata Standards answered the call for Canadian participation in the development of a Code of Ethics for Catalogers. The CMSC appointed May Chan, of University of Toronto Libraries to represent CFLA-FCAB on the Cataloging Ethics Steering Committee, joining representatives from the American Library Association and the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP). 

CMSC put out a call in August 2019 for Canadian participation on working groups charged with developing a draft code. Canadian representatives answered the call and have been actively participating in the development of the draft document. In June 2020 the Steering Committee presented the release of the draft document (link to video ; slides available here). CFLA-FCAB  has translated the draft document into French and the draft Cataloguing Code of Ethics is now available for comment in English and French.

Both documents will be available for comment until September 1, 2020. 

CMSC in partnership with the Section Traitement documentaire et métadonnées de Fédération des milieux documentaires, invites all in the Canadian library community to review and comment directly on the documents. 

Additionally, CMSC and Section traitement documentaire will review the document and generate a joint response. To help inform our response, we encourage the Canadian library community to also send comments directly to CMSC and Section Traitement documentaire et métadonnées.
